Report: Oregon RV Dealers see Spike in Business Thanks to Pandemic

RV dealers across the state of Oregon are making more sales and seeing a higher volume of RVs leaving their lots as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, NBC 16 KMTR reported out of Eugene, Oregon this week.

The NBC station spoke to dealership owners who are surprised with the higher sales numbers they’ve seen this past month. One dealer said he sold units at nearly double the normal rate on a recent weekend. Some dealers attribute the hike in sales to “cabin fever,” or outdoor recreation fans simply wanting to get back outside.

“They’ve been starved of vacations for what’s been almost two months now,” said Shannon Nills, the owner of Guaranty RV.

Nills told KMTR that customers are starting to get cabin fever, and many have sought RV’s as a solution. He said RV sales are up locally, and that the same trend can be seen in the entire industry.

“Over the weekend we sold 52 units, that’s almost double what we sell in a given weekend,” Nills said.

Sutton RV in Eugene is also seeing a soar in customers, KMTR reported. General manager Lisa Bottorff told the news outlet that traffic on their website has more than tripled.

“Interest has increased tremendously, some people are making appointments, some people are coming in physically,” Bottorff said.
