Monthly Wholesale RV Unit Shipments to Dealerships

The RV Industry Association (RVIA) compiles and tracks how many new RV units each RV manufacturer makes and ships to RV dealers on a monthly basis. The wholesale shipment report breaks down RV vehicles by unit category in aggregate to avoid any RV manufacturer’s specific production numbers being released.

2020 Monthly Wholesale New Unit Reports

As expected, due to nationwide retail and manufacturing shutdowns during the month related to the COVID-19 pandemic response, the RV Industry Association’s April 2020 survey of manufacturers found that total RV shipments were reduced significantly, ending the month with 7,197 units.

Towable RVs, totaled 6,503 units, motorhomes totaled 694 units, and Park Model RVs totaled 240 wholesale shipments for the month.

March 2020

Graph of RVIA's report on monthly wholesale shipments compared with 2019 numbers through March of 2020The RV Industry Association’s March 2020 survey of manufacturers found that total RV shipments ended the month with 30,288 units, a decrease of (-20.3%) from the 38,015 units shipped in March 2019.

Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, totaled 27,723 units for the month, a decrease of (-17.9%) compared to last March’s total of 33,754 units. Motorhomes finished the month with 2,565 units, down (-39.8%) compared to the March 2019 total of 4,261 units.

Park Model RVs finished the month down (-12.9%) compared to last March with 364 wholesale shipments.

February 2020

RVIA’s February 2020 survey of manufacturers found that RV shipments ended the month with 37,113 units, a 1.9 percent increase from the 36,421 units shipped last February. The figures in the February report represent shipments made before the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent response measures made a major impact on the economy.

Through February, RV shipments have reached 70,116 units, up 13.2 percent from the 61,961 units shipped last year.

January 2020

RVIA’s January 2020 survey of manufacturers found that total RV shipments ended the month with 33,003 units, an increase of 29.2 percent from the 25,540 units shipped last January.

Towable RVs, led by conventional travel trailers, totaled 29,435 units for the month, an increase of 36.1 percent compared to last January’s total of 21,623 units.

Motorhomes finished the month with 3,568 units, down (-8.9 percent) compared to the January 2019 total of 3,917 units.

Park Model RVs finished the month up 11.1 percent compared to last January with 359 wholesale shipments.
